Naaman Roosevelt was born on December 24, 1987 and grew up in Buffalo, New York. After a stellar high school football career at St. Joseph's it seemed natural that Naaman Roosevelt would eventually attend the University at Buffalo, a school that had been part of his football inspiration since his earliest days.

As a true freshman for the 2006 season, Naaman Roosevelt had 7 starts and played in all 12 games. He finished the season 4th on the team with 31 receptions for 429 yards.

In 2007, Naaman Roosevelt was named as best athlete in the MAC by Street & Smith’s. His standout games of the season were against Bowling Green where he recorded 148 yards and Miami where he had 2 touchdowns.
