Zach Maynard was raised in Greensboro, North Carolina and attended Grimsley High School.

During his senior year at Grimsley High School Zach Maynard passed for 1,635 yards and 20 touchdowns and rushed for 1,404 yards and 14 touchdowns. Zach Maynard was named All-Area and All-Conference while playing for Grimsley High School.

In 2008, Zach Maynard became a Buffalo Bulls Football player. Zach joined the Buffalo Bulls football team as a 6’3” 185 lbs quarterback. Zach Maynard became the top passer on the Buffalo Bulls roster during his freshman season.
